Our Team.

Founded by Mary Lester and Dawn Barclay in 2023, Next Furlong is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe and productive homes for off-the-track thoroughbred horses as they transition from their racing careers. Utilizing community programming pioneered by Sparrowhawk Equine Partners, Next Furlong establishes a supportive pathway for these horses.

Dawn Barclay most recently started America's Pony, a new branch of the nonprofit. This initiative focuses on developing affordable pathways for western horses to be relocated to the east, ensuring they also find secure and fulfilling homes.
